The Modi Regime Murdered the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), But the People's War Cannot Be Stopped!
Our Party work hard every day for the political, social, trade union, proletarian and communist exposure of imperialism, the imperialist governments, the forces allied or complicit with imperialists and first and foremost Italian government.
We deal with the great international issues, as the fight against imperialist war, and the one that unfortunately is in the foreground the world scene today, the genocide of the Palestinian people.
We do it to give the proletariat and the people’s masses a way to understand, to take side, to mobilize, and understand how these issues are closely linked to their own the conditions of life and work, as well as to the issues of peace, democracy, international solidarity.
We are under an imperialist a capitalist social system that is marching towards a world imperialist war. We are under a social system that pushes for governments being more and more dictatorial, fascist, antidemocratic and our country with the Meloni government is fully inside this process.
We are in a world system that unloads its global crisis, the climate crisis, on the proletariat and the people’s masses in the countries where we live and, above all, where three quarters of humanity live.
We are under a world system in which India is the largest country in the world by population currently.
The Indian regime is a fascist Hindutva regime, a bit like Netanyahu is a Zionist regime, and it is similar to all the regimes which massacre the people in other parts of the world.
It is a regime linked to the big MNCs, to environmental disasters, devastation of forests. It is a regime in which the rulers are rich and support the rich and the MNCs, while, on the other side, proletarians and masses are reduced to hunger.
It is a regime linked to American imperialism, to Trump. Modi was one of the first who went to congratulate Trump and establish stronger economic, political, diplomatic, military ties with him, which means more looting of resources and exploitation of the proletariat and the people.
Italian imperialists and the Meloni claim for the tightening their ties with Modi, the Indian masters and the Indian regime. The Meloni government says it and does it: the ministers, the masters linked to it are strengthening their ties with this regime and State.
However, in that country, the proletarians, the people’s and most exploited and discriminated masses, such as the adivasis and dalits, castes deprived of social and political rights and, above all, of a future, rise up and, under a dictatorial regime like the Indian one, they can only do so in arms.
The peoples need to develop their liberation struggle in the form of a people's war to overthrow these regimes and establish states and governments that are no longer subjugated to imperialism but in the hands of the proletarians and the people.
The masses, the proletariat, have given birth to a protracted people's war in India. It began in the late 1960s, with the Naxalbari uprising, that broke out in the villages in the most exploited, poor and hungry areas of India, raising the red flag of armed struggle to overthrow the Indian regime. The Naxalbari uprising lived up to our days and is embodied in the Communist Party of India (Maoist).
Maoism means “Serve the People”, “People's War”, “The Working Class Must Lead Everything”, “It Is Right To Rebel”. Maoism means that and it is embodied by the Communist Party of India (Maoist), heir of the great tradition of rebellion in India called Naxalism.
Few days ago, the news has come from India that the General Secretary of this Party, comrade Basavaraj (nom de guerre) has been murdered along with 26 cadres of the Party. When saying “cadres of this Party” we have to think of proletarians, peasants, representatives of the poorest masses, women, youth, who live and fight in the forests, in the most exploited and oppressed areas of India in close contact with the masses. The Maoist cadres are them.
When a great Indian writer, Arundhati Roy, was asked: “who are the Maoists in India?”, she simply replied: “they are the masses!” So, the masses are who have produced this people's war, this liberation struggle in the heart of India.
India is a vast subcontinent, the part involved in the people's war, in the best moments, has reached an area, called the “red corridor”, inhabited by 50 million people,.
The murder of comrade Basavaraj -whose circumstances are also condemned by democratic organizations in India- was an execution, at the end of a long armed resistance.
These things happen all the time In India. It was certainly the result of a military operation that involved 20 thousand troops throughout an area besieged and attacked until the execution of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), comrade Basavraj.
These comrades, sons of the people, heroes of the people, born by of the Indian people and its most exploited sectors, have fought, resisted, used any form of tactics to prevent the massacre.
But the massacre took place, and it is the last of a series of massacres that have been taking place in this country for decades now by the Indian regimes. Particularly, the current one, the fascist Modi regime, is a reactionary, obscurantist, ultra-religious, sectarian regime, persecutor of its own people, the masses and of other religions, and continues waging war on people on behalf of the rich, the parasites, the Indian and international exploiters. This regime has launched several military operations called by different names but which have always aimed at the same goal: to wipe out the liberation struggle, the people’s rebellion and the Maoist Communist Party that leads and organizes and relaunch it, despite arrests, persecutions, massacres, torture.
Indian prisons are among the most crowded in the world. India is defined by democratic personalities and intellectuals in the world as a “prison of peoples", "prison of movements”. But, as the writer said, “the Maoists are the masses” and therefore to wipe out the rebellion means waging war on the masses, hitting the masses considered accomplices, bases, participants in the rebellion led by the Maoists.
The latest military operation called Kagaar aims to achieve what this regime and the imperialism to which is servant have not been able to do so far. The Modi regime declared that by March 2026 the people's war and the Communist Party of India (Maoist) will be erased. It means that to use the most ferocious systems of repression, attacks on the population, also hit with bombings, as we see on an even larger scale being applied today against the Palestinian people.
In India they are trying to do the same, at least in the areas marked by the regime as "infected" by the people's rebellion, by the guerrilla warfare. And just as the Palestinian resistance organizations are labeled as “terrorists”, they use the same definition for the comrades fighting in India.
Well, this latest Pperation has achieved a “success,” as they claim, killing of the comrade who leads it, not an abstract leader, but the secretary of the Communist Party who, with his vanguards, made by the people, born from the people, leads it. Along with him, 26 cadres of this Party died.
It is great the sorrow to all those who follow this story, to all those who consider themselves being in the same camp -in Italy, proletari comunisti, their organizations, the Slai Cobas, the Movimento Femminista Proletario Rivoluzionario, their activists, always committed to solidarity with the Indian masses. We have political and ideological ties with India, we have met the Indian comrades and we often support initiatives at an international level of information and solidarity with these people, this struggle and with this Party that leads them.
So you can imagine how sad we are, how saddened we are by the death of comrade Basavraj and the martyrs. We are also saddened because communists are women and men made of special “stuff,” this has been said by the international communist movement since the time of Lenin, of socialism in Russia, of the Third International. And not because they are special, but precisely because they are the best that the proletariat and the people produce.
And it is clear that comrade Basavraj was made of this “stuff”.
A comrade who stood out as a leader of the student movement in the 70s. Later he linked himself to the rebellion of the exploited masses, putting himself at their service, above all bringing his life and ability into play. He was a "specialist" of people's war, is considered the founder, under the leadership of the Party, of the People's Liberation Army. He was the builder of many guerrilla bases and the organizer of bodies of people’s power. Because guerrilla warfare in India is not only a military issue. Where it can advance, be rooted in the people, there it builds bases and organs with which the people rule on their lands, in the framework of a protracted struggle to overthrow the Indian regime and establish a New Democratic State, marching to socialism.
Comrade Basavraj was feared by the enemy and known by the masses precisely for his extraordinary ability to organize guerrilla units. He is credited (but clearly it is a journalistic claim) with the greatest military actions that inflicted heavy losses to the Indian regime and its armed forces.
In 2018, he became general secretary of the Party and led the development of the people's war for the last seven years. He led it not only by maintaining a high capability to resist repressive operations, consolidate ties with the most exploited masses, but also keeping this Party at the forefront of the international arena.
This Party has been one of the flags -in India certainly THE FLAG- of solidarity with the Palestinian people, just as this Party struggles to form a united front of the proletarians and masses in the world against the imperialist war, just as it struggles, gathering the historical legacy of the communist movement, for the rebirth of a genuine Communist International that unites the proletarians, the peoples and the parties and organizations that represent them. This Party took stand for the international coordination of all revolutionary communist forces that fight against capitalism and imperialism.
Over the last seven years this Party has been led by comrade Basavraj.
That is why it is important for the proletarians and the masses of our country to know these things, to know that in the world they will never be alone and their struggle will never be alone as long as there are parties and organizations that fight the same enemies in the world and do so serving the establishing the workers' and people's power.
The Communist Party of India (Maoist ) is the largest and most important Communist Party in the world today in terms of its degree of influence in India, which is the most populous country in the world.
The Communist Party of India (Maoist) is the party that leads the largest armed guerrilla struggle in the world, with tens of thousands of organized militants who daily fight, struggle and give their lives for their people and for the peoples of the world.
In this sense, the death of this comrade is a serious blow!
But can one really think that by striking the secretary of a Party of this kind, leading a liberation war of this kind, one can stop the wheel of history? That one can stop the liberation struggle in India and the liberation struggle of the peoples?
They are deluding themselves! They know well that the proletarians and the masses who have generated this comrade, fallen in combat few days ago, will generate new comrades, a new “Basavaraj”.
Nothing and no one can stop the liberation struggle in India, just as nothing and no one can stop the new wave of the world proletarian revolution needed to put an end to the barbarity and horror of the regimes of war, genocide, oppression and impoverishment of peoples.
So let us honor this comrade, let us do it in all ways in the coming days, both condemning this murder and paying homage to him, and carrying out a renewed solidarity with this people's war and by swearing to ourselves, to these fallen comrades, that we will never stop because the ideas of revolt, the ideas of transforming the world never died and can never die.
Basavaraj lives in our struggles, lives in our hearts and in our unbreakable commitment to put an end to the system that murdered him and tens of thousands of proletarians and masses in India and is part of the gigantic barbarity and genocide that strikes the Palestinian people and the peoples of the world.
This is what we want to say to the proletarians and comrades and we will say it in increasingly combative ways.
We will transform the great sadness into a greater strength and conviction that we will finally win!
The Indian comrades will win!
The proletarians and peoples of the world will win!
We will win in our country too!
People's war until victory!
