On the 21st of May, Amit Shah, the Minister of Interior of the Old Indian State, declared that comrade Basavaraj, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), had been killed by his hordes, together with at least 26 more comrades, supposedly in a battle between the detachment of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) in charge of the comrade’s security and the counter-insurgency unit District Reserve Guard (DRG). Still contradictory versions of what actually have happened have been circulating and everything indicates that the version presented by the Old State do not corresponds to reality. Normally very reliable sources have stated that the killing was a so-called “fake encounter”. This and the fact that it is not seldom that the reactionaries spread false claims about killing prominent leaders of the revolutionary movement, is the cause why we have waited to report on the matter.

Now there are so many sources, including such ones that are well-known for defending the democratic rights of the People, which confirms the horrendous killing of comrade Basavaraj, and no dis-affirmation, that we consider it necessary to hold it for true. Until a official statement is made on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) every “information” concerning the killing of comrade and supposed “biographical” information on his life distributed by reactionary media outlets, or directly by the Old State, should be considered unreliable and we call for caution. Even if may take some time until such a statement is published, given the circumstances, only the Party holds the truth about its General Secretary and this we must respect.

What is certain in this situation is that even if a loss of the comrade General Secretary of the Party implies a blow to the revolutionary movement, the Communist Party of India (Maoist) will continue to develop the People’s War, defeat “Operation Kaagar” and all other schemes of the defenders of the old Order, with a firm grip of the gun, under the banner of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.

What also is certain is that all over the world all progressive forces will honor the life and legacy of comrade Basavaraj by stepping up the support of the People’s War in India and stand firm with the Indian Maoists until their final victory.

Comrade Basavaraj will live through the ages and be remember in times when Modi and all his alike are forgotten for ever.
