Purulia: Maoists started observing the second death anniversary of their leader Kishanji on Sunday. It will be on till November 30. Kishanji was killed in an encounter with joint forces in West Midnapore on November 24, 2011. Early on Sunday, a group of Maoists raised a flag as tribute to Kishanji in Kantadih Hattola ground under Arsa police station. The area is barely 5km from Ayodhya hills. Some local villagers passing through the area saw a few posters written in red colours and flags and informed Arsa police.
Officials from both Arsa and Balarampur police stations reached the spot after getting the information and seized the material. In the posters, slogans like ‘Comrade Kishanji lal selam’, ‘Comrade Kishanji amar rahe’ were written in red. In another poster, the rebels announced that all corrupt leaders and politicians will be put on trial in a mass adalat. The rebels accused the CPM and Trinamool of being two sides of the same coin. Siddhinath Gupta, IGP (western zone), told TOI that the police have seized some materials and are on alert.
“We are already doing all the area domination exercises throughout this week,” he added. IB sources said police suspect that Ayodhya hills leader Ranjit Pal was present along with Jharkhand’s Biren. A host of local Ayodhya maoists and other Jharkhand rebels too were present. Latharam Soren of Pitahati and Bimal Mondal of Juri village, both witnesses of the police seizure, said that since the last two to three years they have not seen outsiders coming their villages at night. But till recently once again the Maoists are regrouping and they fear once again those black days will come back, when police joint forces and Maoist will fight.
